Why are cola and 7-up popular ingredients in crock pot pot roast recipes?
Searching for recipes online, I noticed a few recipes with coke or 7-up. I found these to be strange ingredients in pot roast. What is the benefit of these ingredients?

it probbaly has to do with the sugar and how it gets broken down with the carbonation.gives the meat that sweet taste much like wine gives that little flavor. im sure it all has to do with flavor. and moisture.

All it does is help break down the meat because of the acids that are in the drinks, making the meat very tender.

#You could also use pineapple juice

it adds flavour and sweetness……….boiled ham cooked in cocacola is lovely……as is ham cooked in ginger ale with a ginger preserve glaze.
