What are some good non-soup crock pot recipes?
I got a crock pot recently and I’ve been making lots of soup with it… I’m pretty sick of soup by now if you can imagine!

I’ve heard of others using the crock pot to make pork, beef, and chicken dishes, so I’d love to try something like that.

Any ideas are great, thanks!

    Beef Chuck Roast:
Tip, salt, pepper & brown the meat in skillet, remove, add Tablespoon of flour in the skillet drippings & brown a minute or two, then pour in a can of cream of mushroom(no water), stir to mix, put meat back in to coat with the gravy, Place a layer of onion on the bottom of crock pot, then the roast, pour remaining skillet mix on top and top with more onions. Don’t add water!!!!!!!. It usuall don’t take 8 hours, mine takes about 5 for a medium roast, in a medium crock pot. Serve the gravy with rice or mashed potatoes.

Then with the left over raost make these Po-boys!!

In the crock pot add some coconut milk, potato, sweet potato, peas, cauliflower and meat. Cook it on low for a full day and serve with rice.

Put a whole chicken in the slow cooker, cover with Italian dressing, barbeque sauce, or any other sauce you like. Cook it till it’s done.

Forgot about this one, it’s great:
Get some beef tips, stew meat, or a roast cut into cubes (the cheapest way to go). Put them in the slow cooker with a pound of bacon. Cook until the beef is done. The bacon will not look done, and the beef may have a red tint on the outside, but as long as it’s done inside, it’s ok. Drain the drippings, remove the bacon, and return the beef to the cooker. Add some beef or beef mushroom gravy from a jar (enough to coat all the beef) and cook a little while longer, enough to heat through. Serve over rice or noodles. You can microwave the bacon until crispy after it’s removed from the cooker and use it for something else, or mix it in if you want.

Here is a good, simple pulled pork recipe. You can use this for sandwiches.

    INGREDIENTS

    * 1 (14 ounce) can beef broth
    * 3 pounds boneless pork ribs
    * 1 (18 ounce) bottle barbeque sauce

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Pour can of beef broth into slow cooker, and add boneless pork ribs. Cook on High heat for 4 hours, or until meat shreds easily. Remove meat, and shred with two forks. It will seem that it’s not working right away, but it will.
    2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Transfer the shredded pork to a Dutch oven or iron skillet, and stir in barbeque sauce.
    3. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until heated through.

Here is a website with plenty of recipes for the crock pot.

    Happy cooking!

I like to make things like pork & sauerkraut, roast pork and rice as well as roast beef and potatoes, italian chicken and rice and chicken and yellow rice. I have also used my crock pot several times to make baked beans. Let me know if you need some recipes.

Pulled pork sandwiches are the BEST in a crock pot! Here’s one of my favorite recipes: http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/recipes/slow-cooker-orange-bbq-pulled-pork-108634.aspx

You can also make pot roast too, but it takes longer in a crock pot as opposed to an oven.

1 1/2 C shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
    1 dozen eggs
    1 C milk
    1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper (more or less to taste)

Place a layer of frozen potatoes on the bottom of the slow cooker, followed by a layer of bacon then onions, green pepper and cheese. Repeat the layering process two or three more times, ending with a layer of cheese. Beat the eggs, milk and salt and pepper together. pour over the Crock-pot mixture, cover and turn on low. Cook for 10-12 hours.

Combine all ingredients except sour cream, cook in slow cooker on low for 6 hours or high for 4 hours. For immediate meal, add sour cream. Serve over buttered noodles or rice.

    1 packet onion soup mix
any size roast(s) to fit in your slow-cooker
Combine soy sauce and soup mix in slow-cooker. Add the roast, then add water to cover the roast. Cook on low for 24 hrs. Put the meat into sandwiches and dip into the juice it cooked in, or eat the roast as is.

Cook on low for extended length of time (from morning till that evening) or cook on high for 2-3 hours. Serve over boil-in-bag rice and you’ve got a delicious low fat meal.

Put strips in slow cooker. Combine next 7 ingredients and pour over beef. Cook on low 5-6 hours. Add tomatoes and peppers. Cook for one more hour. Combine water and cornstarch; stir into slow cooker and cook on high until thickened. (about 15 min) Serve over rice.

Check your local bookstore: They may have some of the “slow cooker calendars” I saw this past weekend. Check your library too.

    Here’s one I like

3 cans “cream of” soup: chicken, mushroom, etc.
    3 boneless breasts (6 pieces)
Put one can of soup on bottom of crockpot.
Place three breasts, salt and pepper to taste.
    Repeat.
    End with layer of soup.
Plug that thing in, turn it on low, cook 8 – 10 hours.
Meat falls apart. Great with egg noodles and a green salad.

    Crock pot Chicken Stuffing Casserole

1 can cream of broccoli and cheese soup
    1/2 can chicken broth

Lightly spray crock pot and place chicken in bottom. Mix together remaining ingredients and place on top of chicken. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours.

SWEET & SOUR CROCK POT PORK

1 pound pork chops (diced into bite size pieces)
    1 can tomato soup
    1/4 cup vinegar
    1/4 cup soy sauce
    1 can water
    2-3 cups frozen broccoli

    CROCK POT BEEF STEW

1 lb. lean boneless beef stew, cut in sm. pieces
1 sm. can potatoes, sliced or whole, drained
    1 can sliced carrots, drained
1 can cut green beans, drained
    1 onion, chopped
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of celery soup
    1 can tomato soup

Place the above ingredients in a 5 quart crock pot, stir slightly and cook until done. Serve alone or with rice.
This soup makes the gravy and there’s no need to thicken it. One Caution: Don’t substitute fresh potatoes for canned as they will become mushy. This is good to put on in the morning before leaving for work so that dinner is ready when you return home. All that’s left to do is cook the rice and heat your bread.
